Let’s get out and explore Florida’s natural beauty!
New members Glen and Suzi Smith are hosting a kayak trip on Central Florida’s most beautiful river. Silver Springs State Park and the Silver River are about an hour away, near Ocala. This trip is suitable for beginners who have not kayaked in the past. The river moves slowly; you will be able to paddle gently and enjoy the scenery and the company of other club members.
We will explore the beautiful headspring itself, then continue downstream searching for gators, birds, fish, turtles, otters, monkeys, wild flowers, and cypress trees. We may see manatees on this trip, as there are some who live in the Silver River year-round.
When we reach Ray Wayside Park, the outfitter will assist us getting out of our boats, load our boats onto his trailer, and return paddlers and kayaks to our cars in the parking lot at Silver Springs.
This is an easy paddle but NOT a "float trip." We will paddle at a gentle pace but continuously for about 3 hours, with one available rest stop along the way.
SIGN UP: To participate in this trip, you MUST go online to reserve and pay for your kayak in advance. Do this first, before you RSVP.
