The Villages Democratic Club
The 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack was a somber backdrop for our monthly Villages Democratic Club meeting Saturday. Despite that, we had a great meeting. Al Mytty opened the program with a presentation about the Global War on Terror and its costs. Very sobering.
Our guest speaker, Pastor David Houck, talked about the program and services his nonprofit organizations, The Help Agency and Sozo Kids, provide to the adults and children living in the Ocala National Forest. He was enlightening and inspiring. See the Buzz item below on how you can help.
Shirley Schantz, a nurse and our club's Vice President/Communications, gave a valuable presentation on COVID that was informational and to the point. There is so much information out there on this deadly virus that it can be overwhelming to sort out what's most important. She cut through the clutter, summarizing the key points about vaccinations, masks, and prevention.
The membership elected Diane Foley as our new Vice President/Membership. Welcome aboard Diane. We’re glad to have you here with us.
If you missed Saturday's meeting, you can watch the specific presentations accompanying their Buzz items below by clicking on their videos. The remainder you can view in shorter or longer video clips immediately below this message. Thank you videographer Mike Connifey!
Next month’s guest speaker will be Marsha Shearer. Marsha is a member of the Club's board and the author of two books. The meeting is scheduled at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9. We’ll keep you informed as to if this meeting will be held in person or on Zoom. See you then.
