The Sumter DEC is looking for Neighborhood Team Captains
Team size
The size could be as small as the Democrats on your street, could include Democrats on a few neighboring streets, part of a Village, or up to an entire Village. You decide what works best for you.
Duties and responsibilities
The Neighborhood Team Captain acts a communication link or local resource of Democratic activities. Communication can be done via email, phone or literature drops. Pandemic permitting, occasional get-togethers are encouraged but not required. We expect Neighborhood Team Captains will:
• Welcome new Democrats to the area.
• Encourage enrollment in voting by mail.
• Assist in collecting accurate and complete contact information.
• Assist in the distribution of election information to Democrats and some Independents.
Time commitment
Flexible, but we anticipate about an hour a week at this time. This might increase as we get closer to the election.
Training
We will provide training, which will include a quick review of our new web page and how to navigate the county Supervisor of Elections website. We will provide you with vote-by-mail cards, general election information and any position papers we produce on different topics.
