The House of Representatives voted on October 21 to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress after he declined to comply with a subpoena from lawmakers investigating the January 6 riot — setting up the Department of Justice to weigh criminal charges against the Trump ally.
What do you need to do?
Use the link to the contact form to write to Merrick Garland, asking him why there have been no criminal or civil contempt charges against Steve Bannon.
A sample letter is shown below:
Why hasn't Steve Bannon been indicted for ignoring the subpoena to testify before congress? It has been over 17 days since the House of Representatives voted to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress after he declined to comply with a subpoena from lawmakers investigating the January 6 riot.
Congress has no authority to prosecute anyone for anything. Prosecution is an executive branch function, and that power is vested in in your Justice Department. That is why Congress asked the Justice Department to prosecute Bannon for contempt. It is important to punish a person who refuses to comply with a subpoena to promote respect for the rule of law and to signal to others who might consider breaking the law that contempt is a bad choice.
Bannon’s thumbing his nose at a subpoena could not be a more flagrant or a more contemptuous violation of the law. So, what is the hold up?
This is time sensitive. Please act accordingly.
As soon as possible, since the AG needs to act now!
